I consider my paintings to be objects of mood and time. I enjoy the play between the abstract and the figurative, an element not always discernible. I work instinctively, sometimes manipulating the accident to maximise the element of surprise, particularly in relation to shape and colour - as the images develop from this interplay I relish the texture and fluidity of the paint. My work is executed briskly but over a long period of time, until I feel I have arrived upon an image whereby all this history is encapsulated in the moment.
